Vintage Victorian Blouse - Exquisite Lipstick Red Victorian Silk Bodice c.1895 with Puffed Sleeves Utterly Wearable Condition
Vintage Victorian blouse is a kind of drama that we seldom see from the era- pieces like this often have not survived changes in ownership and years of storage. This silk bodice, however, is a dream in remarkable condition. The red is vibrant and saturated, a true ruby hue, with crisp black print. The interior is amazing, polished cotton lining with twelve stays. This bodice would have original been paired with a skirt, and dates to approximately 1895. The sleeves are puffed, stitched in a bubble style, and float just off the shoulder. The wide neckline is framed with a fine chantilly lace trim, finished with black silk satin bows at the left shoulder. The waist is trimmed with the same satin, and a bow covers the closure. This piece closes with a hook at the shoulder, a series of twelve hooks on the interior front of the bodice, and eight hooks along the left side. It will pair perfectly with any black victorian skirt, and could be worn daringly with other eras and separates.
Please allow some room at the bust as this is boned, and does not have darts.

This blouse is clean and ready to wear. There is a series of six holes in the silk, *not* shattering, along the right underarm - it looks most like moths that were attracted to sweat - the line is just barely visible on close examination. There is a single one at the edge of the left underarm. These are conveniently hidden by the large sleeves. There is a cluster of five tiny pinholes in the left sleeve, and two tiny holes not in that cluster on the same sleeve. These do not detract in any way, and you have to look closely for them. This piece is STURDY - no silk shattering. An amazingly clean and crisp interior. No strain at the hooks. So exquisite, and so wearable and also beautiful for display.
