Vintage 1940s Dress - Studded Rayon Jersey 40s Dress with Little Brass Faux-Button Studs
Vintage 1940s studded dress in a sleek and delicious balck rayon jersey. The bodice is sleek, with the most abbreviated sleeves, a v neckline and subtle shirring along the side seam. The low waist meets with a full, very gathered skirt that has deep folds and soft drape. Brass studs that look like little buttons edge both sleeves, and the low waist. A row of silver nail head studs divides rows of the "buttons" and more of them dot the bodice, front and back. A metal zipper closes on the left.
Label: None Present
Material: Rayon Velvet
Condition: Good minus, very wearable as is
This dress is has been cleaned and is ready to wear. It wears beautifully, but is imperfect. The nail head studs at each underarm are oxidized. There are hand stitched repairs at the base of each underarm. A total of three studs are missing, each leaving little holes where it used to be. Of greater concern is that the skirt is peppered with little moth holes. Most notably, there are strings of chews, up to 1" in length, that have been interfaced at the center front of the skirt. It actually wears beautifully, because the flaws get lost in the folds, or simply don't stand out because of being interfaced, but they are present. This was a favorite of my consignor, though, and I know it wears very nice in person.
