Vintage 1940s Dress - Gorgeous Late 40s Wool Day Dress with Bright Silver Studs in a Scalloped Motif
Vintage late 1940s dress in midweight black wool, brightly accented with silver studs. I believe this piece to be homemade, and one of a kind. This means there's some imperfect points in the construction, but the overall look is quite smart. The bright studs cross from the right shoulder to the left side, topped with a scalloped motif along the line of the wool. The sleeves are three-quarter length, and the skirt is straight. It closes with a zipper at the back of the neck, and on the side.
Label: None Present, homemade or home altered
Condition: Good minus, as is
This dress is clean and ready to wear. As noted, there's some odd points in the construction, including a wavy seam before the scallops start on the bust, an extra dart on the left, and a gusset along the zipper on the left side. The studs definitely speak lounder than the flaws - they really don't detract significantly. I have interfaced two little moth holes in the bodice and six in the back of the skirt -these do not stand out in any way. Sturdy and entirely wearable.
