Vintage 1940s Dress - 40s Evening Gown in Chocolate Brown Watered Faille with Tie Front Jacket
Vintage 1940s dress is made of a delicious watered faille with a beautiful moire in a tight pattern - the clusters of lustre are almost like bouquets of flowers. The gown is the classic c. 1939/40 evening silhouette, wide straps with a sweetheart necklins, darts to the bust, and a soft cut to the skirt. The jacket is a shape so good I'd be borrowing it for more sporty ensembles, with its short puff sleeves, wide lapels and tie waist. Not to mention the pert peplum! The jacket closes with the front ties, the dress with buttons up the back.
Length: 20" at front, 24" at back
Label: None Present, some jerk cut it out of the neck of the jacket
Material: Watered Faille
Condition: Jacket - Very Good, Dress - Good, As is
Both pieces are clean and ready to wear. I find no flaws to mention on the jacket. On the dress, there is a small rectangular cut at the right side seam, from a previous alteration where it was taken in and let out again. I have interfaced this with self-fabric. The bust is still taken in on the left. There is strain to the eight darts under the bust, it's visible on inspection or if held to the light. There's one more tiny pinhole near the side seam, and a tiny cut on the skirt I interfaced. I find no other issues to note!
