Vintage 1930s Suit - Dark Brown Rayon Crepe Two Piece Dress Ensemble with Edwardian Inspiration
What a fantastic 1930s suit! The 1930s were often inspired by Victorian and Edwardian design, and this wonderful two-piece ensemble shows the influence of classic walking suits. It is a rich chocolate rayon crepe. The set is two pieces, a skirt with attached silk slip-style bodice, and a long overblouse. Such a rare style! The blouse has a collar of ivory faille. There is shirring at the sleeves and front of the chest. It closes up the front with self-fabric buttons. The skirt is long but not full length - a classic 30s cut - and has pleats at each side of the hem. It closes along the side with a zipper.
Bust: 33", as is **see condition notes
Condition: Top: Good, as is Skirt: Fair to Good minus
The most notable flaw of the set is that the upper silk "slip" component of the skirt is shattered and split - it's really beyond the point of being worth repair, although it's enough to suspend the skirt itself. This is a consigned piece, so while I would alter it to a standard skirt if it were my own, I must leave that to the buyer. There are two moth holes by the waist of the skirt (completely covered when the blouse is work) The blouse has six little pinholes along the front, and two slightly larger than pinholes at the right underarm, all of which I have interfaced. The added ivory collar has yellowed from wear. This is priced a half of the same style in very good condition. It's still very wearable, but best for someone understanding of flaws.
