Vintage 1930s Dress Set - Charming Late 30s Homemade Striped Dress in Navy and White Silky Rayon
Vintage late 1930s dress is a homemade charmer, so she is truly one of a kind in the world. Made c. late 38- early 1940, it has that quintessential silhouette we associate with the early WWII era. It's navy hue that is still true blue - no mistaking it for black. The sleeves are lightly puffed with little pleats into the shoulder. The bodice is comprised of three segments at front - a panel gathers at each side of the bodice, and a curved midwaist. The skirt has triple sets of darts at each side, that open low to pleats. My favorite detail of course, is probably yours as well, the two red and green cut felt flowers, hand appliqued to the sides of the collar. This dress has no closures, but there's belt loops, so you can add a sash.
Bust: 43" allowing for room in the gathers
Label: None Present
Material: Rayon Crepe
Condition: Good plus, as is
This dress is clean and ready to wear. As noted, this is homemade, and so not all of the seams are perfectly finished - I've pulled out some remnants of basting stitches, and there's small correction areas where the seam was take out and repaired. The shoulders have minor fade, and there's a lightened area at the right side of the neckline. There is a little fade at the underarms. I find no other issues to note.
