Vintage 1940s dress in delicious, lightweight bemburg rayon. This dress is delightful for spring and summer, breezy and semi-sheer. It is as is, with a number of flaws, so please read the condition comments. The print is wonderful, cheerful white bows against a blue sky. There are pale, pale golden detail work, but these have largely faded away with time. The sleeves are half-length. The bust is divided with a triangular inset, with each side of the bust lightly gathered into it. The skirt has a partial peplum, which becomes a long, bustle-like drape at the back. It closes up the left with a sturdy metal zipper.
Shoulder to Waist: 16"
Label: Bemburg Rayon
Material: Cold Rayon
Condition: Fair plus to Good minus, repaired and as-is
This darling dress was machine washed in the past, and has some resulting flaws, including scattered spots. As noted the golden line work in the bows is almost entirely gone. Both underarms had strained and have been carefully resewn by hand. There is a total of five holes on the right shoulder, where it must have been weak from the hanger. I've patched these with self-fabric. There are two smaller holes in the back, and fraying along the hook closure area (which I have replaced.) There are five holes in the skirt. I've patched the largest, but the others are best left as is. This is gently priced with flaws in mind.
