This vintage 1940s dress is nothing at all on the hanger - but just phenomenal on the body! A warm, lustrous rayon satin in a deep rusty orange is autumnal glamour. It is almost certainly homemade and imperfect, but still luxurious to wear and quite flattering.. There's light gathers at the shoulder, and divided bust seams. A central diamond is inset at the waist, extending to divide the bust. Gathers into the lower half create draping for the skirt. Self-fabric ties make a bow at the back. This closes with a side metal zipper.
Label: None Present, homemade
Material: Rayon satin
Condition: Good, as is
This dress is clean and ready to wear. The execution of the pattern was imperfect, with more gathers on the left shoulder than on the right. The right shoulder has a few little snags and a hole, likely from being worn with a heavy brooch. There is subtle, graduated fade at the shoulders. I've interfaced a small cut at the back right hip, and a couple seams show minor strain. This wears beautifully and is priced with flaws in mind.
