Vintage 1940s coat that could not be more perfect for the season. This fantastic coat will look impeccable over suits and dresses, or really sporty with slacks for a Katharine Hepburn effect. The strong padded shoulders set the silhouette. The coat is a sturdy, warm cream colored wool with subtle herringbone weave. The shoulders, sleeves and pockets are set with a festive trim of braided yarn in red, deep green and cream. It is lined in cream rayon*

This coat is sturdy, clean and ready to wear. The coat had gotten a great deal of soil in storage over the years. This cleaned away more than 90% from the exterior, but the lining is significantly stained all through the back, and if not for the label, I would have simply removed it. Strangely, the lining is not weak nor does it have any odor, it's just a bit of a shock when you open the coat. There remain some very light spots from old soil on the right front of the coat, near the lower two button holes, but these don't stand out. Flaws have been taken into account in the price.
