Smart Late 1940s Tailored Brown and Periwinkle Grey Plaid Dress with Velvet Collar by Pat Hartley
-
Product Description
Vintage 1950s dress is the kind of timeless fashion I find absolutely irresistible. Dating between 1948 and 1950, this is a heavy, autumn weight woven fabric that tests as a blend of rayon and acetate. The bodice is beautifully styled with a narrow v neckline, framed by a winged collar of brown velveteen. A large single button closes the bodice, along with a hook at the waist and hidden buttons down the center of the skirt. The skirt is pleated, and has deep, working hip pockets. Best for a taller gal, this is New Look length. A very smart dress indeed.
The colors of this plaid are better in person, a dense chocolate brown and a very blue hued grey, almost periwinkle. I really love it.

This dress is crisp, fresh and ready to wear. The underarms have some hand stitches to a popped seam, in thread that isn't a perfect match, but only two stitches show a tiny bit when the arm is lifted. There is a cluster of six small moth chews, two right on the hem, at the lower right front. Held to the the light, I found two more tiny ones in the skirt. These don't stand out. -
