Vintage 1950s day dress is so smart and cute, a classic faux shirtwaist in a striking color. The orange-coral ground is embellished with fern fronds and curly queues in black, and little white dots that make me think of clouds. The collar is small, the short sleeves are cuffed. Little pewter colored globe buttons run from neckline to waist. The skirt has a deep center pleat that gives it drape. It closes on the side with a later-added snap closure.

This dress is clean and ready to wear, having been hand washed and dry cleaned. The cuffs and collar remain a little mis-pressed from the cleaning experience. The underarms have tanned stains that I can't remove, but there's no odor, and the stains do fall into the folds of fabric under your arms. There's a small fray on the right side of the collar. The center darts above the vent on the skirt have strained in the past, and have two sets of hand stitches securing them. Finally, the side closure is amateur at best, probably added as no closure was present. It could be better to replace with an invisible zipper or something similar.
