Vintage late 1940s dress is an ideal, sophisticated canvas for your best 40s accessories. A rich, deep merlot shade of rayon that is quintessential for the era, it works smashingly with gold, chartreuse, butterscotch and other autumnal hues, and is a perfect contrast for turquoise or chartreuse. This chic design features a crisp collar above a shirtwaist closure. Strong shoulders are lightly padded and embellished with shirring, while the three quarter sleeves button closed. Two pintucked pleats traverse the bodice. The skirt is a six gore style. This beauty closes with a side metal zipper and self-fabric buttons on the bodice.

This piece is beautifully fashioned and very sturdy. There is a row of four tiny moth chews at the center back that I have interfaced carefully with self fabric. The buttons on the cuffs are replacements. There are two tiny water spots at the far left front of the skirt, and one small water spot at the lower rear right of the skirt. This piece has not been dry cleaned due to stay at home orders, but feels fresh and wearable.
