Vintage 1940s jacket in a high quality wool gabardine the most delicious, lush shade of merlot. This is a classic 40s hue, but my photos don't capture it perfectly. It is dense and rich and feels bright, for such a dark color. This gorgeous piece offers a tailored silhouette framed by strong shoulders, neat tailoring and a cut that reaches the hips. The lapels are notched with rounded corners and fully top stitched. The hips are finished with functional pockets with more top stitching. This may have once been a double breasted closure, but I'm not sure if that was original or a alteration -currently, it closes with linked buttons. This jacket is fully lined with merlot colored rayon crepe.
Waist: 33" with one button through both holes to -36" with link extended. If altered back to a double breasted closure, it would be 31" waist.

This jacket is clean and ready to wear. As noted, buttons have been moved about in the past, and there's light evidence of where they used to be. There are two little surface moth divits on the back, and one little moth hole in the lining, under the right arm. I find no other issues to note. The piece feels very sturdy and fresh.
