Rare Late 1950s Convertible Wrap Dress in Colorful Java Batik Cotton

  • Product Description

This fantastic summer dress is a one of kinda piece, likely homemade in a bold java wax print from Holland. These types of prints can be hard to date, but the style of the dress is 1950s or early 1960s, and the batik looks like other 1950s pieces I've seen. The colors are RICH and the cotton is crisp. This looks like nothing on the hanger - I didn't realize until I started playing with it just how amazing it is. I came up with seven different looks, and had to cut myself off so I could finish shooting it! If you don't mind using pins, you gain at least five other styles.

Getting each version perfect does take some tweaks and folding of the edges, but it very secure once tied. The skirt closes with a sturdy metal zipper. I've shown it tied with the skirt turn to the back, side and front.
