Vintage 1940s suit by designer Sally Milgrim. Milgrim designed for no less than three president's wives, and her styling is always impeccable. This fabulous suit features dramatic full length lantern sleeves. I suspect it likely had very large shoulderpads at one time. Both the jacket and skirt are unlined. The neckline is an intriguing cut with outline stitching. The skirt features a scalloped two layered peplum. Garnished with fabulous amber rhinestone buttons, it's a pretty sensational suit.
Material: Woven Wool
Conditon: Good plus, as is
The skirt for this set was altered long ago - Shorted, oddly, from the middle up, I think, while the hem is let out to its maximum. There's three darned moth chews in the skirt. The jacket has four- two on the right front and two on the right sleeve. The buttons are almost certainly c. 1960s replacements. The suit really does wear well, as long as you're a height that can wear the altered length.
