This is one of the most exquisite pieces of antique Irish Crochet I have had the pleasure of handling. I am gutted by the fact that someone hacked this bodice from a dress, and can only image the S-curve glory that this piece was originally. That said, it has an appeal of its own, despite its lack of finishing and uneven lengths. The workmanship in the crochet is absolutely compelling. heavily three dimensional, beautifully designed and of course, wholly handmade. It closes at the back with buttons that loop into provided points of the lace itself.

This blouse, or bodice is clean and ready to wear, if you do not mind wearing it unfinished. The hem and neckline are both unfinished, and there is a small spot on the outside of the right sleeve. There is a repair at the top of the left shoulder seam. Finished into a blouse or added onto a dress this would shine incredibly. A perfectly lovely thing for the bohemian and collector alike.
