An exquisite 1950s Lilli Ann suit in a bold black with ivory - an eye catching design I find irresistible. Although I could not find the original ad for piece, I believe it to be c. 1954, based on the two tone element and hip treatment. The softest of all Lilli Ann suits that I have ever had, the original seller called it cashmere and I am forced to agree that is either cashmere or, more likely, one of Lilli Ann's perfect Fabric of France blends that includes cashmere - this is a luxury fiber. The crisply tailored jacket features bars of ribbed ivory wool at the yoke, while the piece surrounding it, including the collar and button placket, have crisp and perfect white top stitching. It closes with sparking black buttons - not original, but elegant. A single original button is including, tucked into the left front pocket. The jacket offers padded hips that are further shaped with an internal band, guaranteeing you that dramatic hourglass shape. The jacket is fully lined with rayon crepe. The skirt is a slim four gore style with a center rear vent. It closes with a metal zipper, and is half-lined through the back.
Regarding fiber content. This was originally purchased by my customer from Butchwax Vintage in 2014, where it was listed as "Pure Cashmere." There is no label to support that, however, I agree that it is at least high in cashmere content based on the texture and lustre, as well as the positive opinions of three other professionals I've consulted about it.
*button has been moved from 28". There is a full 2" of waistband tab available, so a professional seamstress could alter it to 29".

This smart suit has been dry cleaned and pressed and is ready to wear. There is mild fade to the lining of the underarms - aside from that, I find no issues to note! It is in exceptional condition.
