Rare 1950s Deadstock Atomic Star Print Bathing Suit in Polished Cotton with Ruching
If you are already plotting your poolside style for the next Viva Las Vegas, rest your eyes on this sassy atomic era beauty. this 1950s swimsuit still bears a tag from the "National Knitted Outerwear" association, which would by that time seem somewhat out of date. The suit itself is not knitted. The ruched front panel is glossy polished cotton, with pop art dots and curvy midcentury diamonds. the balance is crisp black cotton which outlines the bust, makes up the halter top and hugs the curves of your body in stretchy, elasticized shirring. The halter strap can be unbuttoned completely, if you wish to wear it strapless.
Fits and extra small to curvy small best. This is very stretchy, but my suggested range is:
Bust: 29"- 36"
Label: Knitted Outerwear Association tag is the only one present
Condition: Good, as is
This suit would have been perfect, but it was damaged in shipment when my consignor's box was punctured. There are three handstitched repairs to the cotton at the upper back right side - when stretched out, they are 1.5", 2.5" and .5" of off-seam tears with a hand stitch to close and secure them to the elastic. Because the shirring is so tight and stretchy, these won't really be noted when worn. I find nothing else to note, this cute suit is ready to wear!
