There is nothing like the sophistication of the mid 1930s. This exceptional 30s rayon dress is one of the the most amazing, menacing and most brilliantly styled soutache dress I've ever seen. Longer internal sleeves are capped with cape-like kimono style sleeves at the top, covered in the heavy soutache that decorates the bodice and majority of the skirt. I love the jagged line of the detail work above the waist. Nearly the entire front of the skirt is covered with soutache, while the back is decorated in a unique, somewhat art deco shape. The upper bodice has a partia self-fabric lining. The dress closes up the back with sturdy metal zipper.
This sold in 2012 to a long time buyer, and was purchased back with many other pieces from her elegant collection. The original images are included, as they show the blue color and soutache far better than I was able to capture it. There's a lot of images - scroll through them all to get the best idea of the look of the piece.
Label: None Present
Material: Rayon, Cordé Soutache
Condition: Good plus
There is a small area of lightness underneath one of the soutache "points" on the bodice, as if someone rubbed at a small spill. This is minor. There is some very mild fade on the right arm of the dress - our original modeled photos really brought this out, but it is less notable in person. There is pressing sheen throughout, but it's quite even. There some snagging to the zipper plackets from having been stuck in the zipper in the past. I find no other issues to note. The dress is very sturdy, and wears beautifully.
