Vintage 1940s day dress is a stellar find in soft, fine silk with bright print that will absosolutely charm you. Little blocks with clown faces are surrounded by ... what I think are circus animals. There's giraffes, and hippos with ice cream cones. There's climbing bears and monkeys dresses as ballerinas! The silhouette is flattering a draped post war cut, and the colors are rich - purple, shocking print and turquoise offset with white and grey. The neckline is asymmetric, with a large self-fabric bow. Another bow finishes the waist at left. The skirt is asymmetrically draped. It closes on the side with a sturdy metal zipper.
Bust: 42" (meant to be worn bloused)
Label: None Present
Condition: Good, as is
This dress has been ozoned and is ready to wear. The silk at the back and sides of the neckline is fragile and has old repairs. There is a small spot on the right shoulder. There is a hole at the right chest, but this is visible only from the interior, as the large bow is stitched down to cover it. There is one spot on the bow. There is a series of yellow spots down the right side of the skirt, but the busy print helps conceal them. It wears beautifully, and has been priced with condition in mind.
