Vintage 1950s dress offers a classic tropical motif in rich ocean hues - royal blue, black, turquoise, periwinkle. It is filled with brushy hibiscus and pineapples. The silk is sleek and lustrous. Although there's no tags, it has all the hallmarks of being commercially made. The boned bodice has a pleated bust, and pleated midwaist. Segments of elasticized shirring lend it some flexibility in fit. The straps unbutton, and so it can be worn with them tucked in, or tied as a halter. The skirt is a wrap sarong style with wide ties. It is styled with excess material to drape gracefully down the left side of the body. This closes with a sturdy metal zipper.

This dress is clean and ready to wear. You have to look very, very carefully to find any flaws in this busy print. I found a tiny spot on one of the sarong ties, and a faint yellow spot in the middle of a pineapple lower on the skirt. You'll never see it when worn. The elastic is strong and stretchy.
