Luxurious 1930s Satin Evening Gown in Rust Colored Rayon Charmeuse

  • Product Description

I had held onto this stunning gown for my autumn collection, but took the theme a different direction, so you get a chance at it a bit earlier. The color is utterly rich and light catching. In evening light, it's a deep autumn leaf hue. In the sun, it's dramatically rust-red. The sleeves are are adapted from avant garde designs of the time, and are still ahead of the time. They are top stitched for texure. The bust is divided, the fit of the skirt columnar above a mermaid hem. At the back, self-fabric ties drape from the neckline. This gown closes on the side with snaps. There are belt loops that are quite wide and will easily accommodate a statement sash.

      Bust: 35.5"
Waist: 30" (probably meant to be sashed)
      Hips: 37.5
      Length: 57"

      Label: None Present
      Material: Rayon Charmeuse
Condition: Good, as is with small flaws

This lovely dress has been freshly dry cleaned but some minor cosmetic flaws remain - the liquid sheen does make them less notable, but not totally invisible. There's a couple snags to the rayon of the bodice, and a tiny, narrow "dash" where I removed an old pin. There's some staining inside the collar that didn't lift completely at the cleaners. There's multiple snags and a couple spots around the area a wide belt would sit, and I think this was worn more than once with a metal belt. (I mean, I don't blame them, I would, too.) These would be mostly covered by a wide belt. The lower skirt has a few little snags to the satin and some scattered, minor water spots - the same on the back. The dress wears beautifully, and is priced with imperfections in mind.
