Lustrous 1930s Textured Silk Satin Charmeuse Wedding Gown with Butterfly Sleeve Detail

  • Product Description

What a rare and stunning treasure! This vintage 1930s wedding gown is the epitome of Old Hollywood elegance and allure. This beauty is flattering and lush. Likely homemade by the bride who wore, the style feels very customized. The material is a very subtle satin matelassé with crepe back. The sleeves are truly unique - first a soft puff, which is then covered by a soft butterfly treatment, I've never seen anything made quite this way. Deco seaming makes a high waist, and gathers there and at the shoulder offer some drape across the bust.  The high upturned "v" line on the bodice creates a flattering division of the bust, perfect with the gathered neckline. The skirt is made of four panels that drape gracefully. The gown opens on the side with a sturdy metal zipper.

      Bust: 38"-42"
High Waist: 27"-29" (stretch is due to bias cut)
      Natural Waist: 27"-31"
      Hips: 39"
      Length: 58"

      Label: None Present
Material: Blend - I thought it was all silk, but's silk, rayon and a SMALL part of some synthetic.
      Condition: Good plus

This amazing dress has been freshly hand laundered and steamed, and looks truly fantastic when worn. There are some small flaws to the dress. There are two little scratched to the satin at the neckline. There's two tiny repair points on the waist seam. Just below the natural waist is a very subtle mark where I treated a lipstick stain - it's just a tiny scuff now. There are two pin-tip dots in the skirt, a few more very light little nicks to the surface of the satin, and one subtle water spot by the right front hem. The dress is lustrous and wears beautifully, and has been priced with imperfections in mind.
