Lovely Late 1930s or Early 1940s Dress Set in Rose Pink Rayon with Brown Lace
Vintage war era dress and matching jacket is lovely in a warm, rosy pink. The material is a weighty, drapey rayon with ribbed texture. This set is almost certainly homemade, I think from a 30s gown into this more day-dress shape. The dress has sheer lace yoke, with matching faux pocket accents. The lace covers decorative buttons, which hide a snap closure. The puffed sleeves have lace trim. The little bolero jacket is made to be worn open. It has deep set sleeves with pleated and sleeve headers. The jacket has no closures, the dress closes only with the bodice snaps.
This is best worn by a smaller size medium, and paired with a belt for a more gathered effect.
Dress Shoulders: 14"
Shoulder to Waist: 17"
Shoulder: 12" *this is unusual as the dress shoulders are larger. These sleeves seem to be set pretty deep in and have some room in them from pleating
Label: None Present, homemade
Material: Rayon Crepe, Silk or Rayon Lace
Condition: Good minus, very wearable as is, wears beautifully.
This set is has been dry cleaned and is ready to wear. There are some breaks in the lace (you can see them scattered about in the photos.) If you pay attention to the construction, you'll get an idea of its handmade nature. On the jacket, the left sleeve has some fade, and the right sleeve has a light ball point pen mark. There is a small frayed hole at the top of the right sleeve. On the dress, there are the mentioned breaks in the lace, a pen mark under the right sleeve, three small fray holes scattered in the skirt and a few light, scattered spots. It looks better on than it does described, but is gently priced with condition in mind.
