This vintage dress started it's life as a chic, cubist inspired 40s day dress, and was cleverly altered, probably in the 1950s, to a sexy wiggle dress silhouette. The ground is a dark navy, with a print of steel grey, white and red. I really appreciate the technique of the person who adjusted the fit of the skirt - it was carefully arranged to impact the print as little as possible. The neckline is also altered, and I am unsure how it started out. The tiered, puffed peplum is separate piece that ties on.
Best fits approximately a size 2.
Label: Georgia Bullock
Condition: Good minus with repair, wearable as is
This garment is clean and ready to wear. It is wounded but has had some careful repairs, and other flaws are concealed. The seams of the skirt have strain, but you won't see this over a dark slip. I have interfaced two frayed tears in red areas of the skirt, no fabric is missing so these are noted from any distance when worn. There is a small repair on the waist. This repair and strained seams around the hips are covered by the peplum when worn. These sound much worse than they present - this dress wears beautifully, but is priced gently with condition in mind.
