Incredible Draped 1940s Charmeuse Satin Cocktail Dress in Pink-Red
An alluring cocktail dress with draping that will make you a starlet. This 1940s piece is a showstopper is made of a decadently amazing luxurious pink-red satin. The richness of this hue, the rarity, the luster of the heavy satin - this dress just takes no prisoners. The bodice is pleated into the center, and then the pleats have further been gathered up by a previous owner. The dolman sleeves narrow to the cuff, and I've replaced the missing shoulder pads with sturdy vintage ones that set the silhouette. The back is just as dramatic, with a heavy draped bustle and more than two dozen self-fabric buttons to close. This beauty will catch every eye.Shoulders: 16.75"

Material: Rayon Charmeuse, but possible silk content as well based on fiber test
Condition: Good, with repairs
This beauty is clean and ready to wear. The most notable issue is blocky are of fade that takes up the first half of the left forearm. I have carefully area dyed it and it is much improved, but still has the appearance of a slightly lightened water spot. It's far less jarring in person than these photos, however. Interestingly, there is a good deal of fade on the INTERIOR of the dress, but it does not extend to the exterior at those points. There is a bit of fade at the right hem as well.
There are two small stains on the right shoulder and two on the sleeve. there is a small mend under the left arm. There is some lifting to the fibers of the satin at points of normal wear, like the waist and along the arms, and three actually little scuffs to the satin - one at each shoulder and one at the right hip. I find no other issues to note! This dress wears beautifully. Condition has been accounted for in the price.
