Vintage 1940s sunhat is such a special piece - an iconic shape and colorway. This wide brimmed summer hat features a dramatic, perfectly blocked peaked crown, a shape so iconic to the period of 1938-42 that it's on the cover of dozens of hollywood magazines and featured in numerous Vogue images. The straw is braided in a swirling pattern of color. A wide, perfectly golded grosgrain band circles the crown, becoming a bow that drapes over the back of the brim. It is very charming, and truly ideal for summer wear.
The size of this piece will cause it to be more costly to ship overseas or areas on the east coast. I will refund any shipping overcharge.

This hat is ready to wear. It was incredibly faded - I have left the underside of the brim faded, as it is not quite as bad, but used permanent craft-dying markers to recolor it to the best of my abilities. It is till nowhere near perfect, but from even a short distance it reads so well that I am honestly quite proud of the hours I spent colorizing it along the pattern. You can see the full of it's original glory inside the crown. The black band has more lightly has faded with time. I have not increased my price based on the work I put it into - I did this one for love.
