Gorgeous 1960s Well-Made Costume of Edwardian Era Suit in Blue Velveteen

  • Product Description

An associate snagged this piece for me - I don't often carry costumes, but when they are so beautifully done, how could I resist?  Someone fashioned this velveteen beauty with great care. The print is unique, giving it a textured, ribbed appearance although it is flat. It is heavily embellished with black corded ribbon, and perky black puff balls, where an original might have buttons. The collar is dramatic, the waist fitted, closing with hooks. The skirt is straight at front, and has some fullness at the back, closing with hooks at the waist. Pellon interfacing gives structure to the shoulder and front of the skirt.

      Shoulders: 16"
      Bust: 38"
Waist: 27", but could be set to as large as 30"
      Length: 23"

Waist: 25.75", could be moved to 26.5"
      Hips: 41"
      Length: 38"

      Label: None Present
      Material: Cotton Velveteen
      Condition: Very Good minus

This suit is crisp, fresh and ready to wear. I removed a broken shoe clip being used as a button accent on the waist because it was cheesy - that left a couple small marks at the waist. The puff balls on the jacket are replacements, as one was missing. I find no other issues to note. It is clean and very strong. Perfect for someone with an event that would be too taxing on an original garment, or for film or stage.
