1940s vintage coat is a real beauty. This finely fitted navy blue princess coat features flattering princess seaming for an irresistible silhouette. The navy wool is a bit more like a suiting textile than a coat material, very fine with highly textured rib woven in - it's hard to see in the photos. Fantastic 40s shoulders are padded, with pads that extend into the darted sleeves for a bit of puff. Trapunto work travels down the front, shoulder to hips, in four rows across the front. It is a motif of leaves and berries. The buttons that close the front have swirls of "rope" in the center. The coat is lined with a navy acetate.
I had to lighten the images to show the detail work at all. It is not hard to see in person, the camera just would not cooperate with me. Truly a piece you'll love even more in person.

This coat has been drycleaned and is ready to wear. There is a small surface moth chew at the right underarm, and a few little ones at the lower right side of the skirt. There's also a couple tiny scuffs to the ribbed texture, nothing that will stand out. We have repaired the lining at each sleeve. I find no other flaws to note!
