Gorgeous 1930s Ivory Silk Blouse of Fine Tape Lace and Fagoting

  • Product Description

Vintage 1930s blouse, in the one of the most exceptional sorts of lace you can find. Seriously, this is a rare, RARE piece of textile history. I confess, I get these so rarely that I always forget the proper name by the time I see another. The entire body is made of swirling bands of ivory silk, interconnected with intricate looped stitching, reminiscent of fagotting. This example also has coils like the center of tiny webs.  The precise detail and quality is frankly unfathomable, the style has always fascinated me. This gorgeous piece would be a truly worthy addition to a bride's wedding ensemble, whether it be walking down the aisle, or for a reception outfit-change. The silhouette is supremely sleek and flattering, with frog closures running from hem to throat. This might be best over another garment, as it naturally seems to hang a bit open between closures.

This blouse is clean and ready to wear. The hem has a few little frayed points. However, I find no breaks in this lovely lace, and it is clean and bright. I find no other issues to note!
