Gorgeous 1910s Embroidered Cotton Mull Summer Dress with Crenellated Hem and Openwork

  • Product Description

My favorite, I think, of all the dresses in this antique grouping is this exceptional piece of cotton mull, decadently embellished with whitework embroidery. The bodice has a bloused style with puffed sleeves. The neckline and cuffs are gathered around piping, and then finished with a fine lace. A similar treatment makes up the definited waistband, only the piping is edged here with self-fabric ruffles. The real statement of the dress is the tiered skirt, with it's dual crenellated hems and decadent checkered openwork. This is better, more textural than my mannequin photos capture - it is much closer to the modeled photos, but you'll still appreciate it even more in person. A very special summer dress.
