Flirtatious 1940s Rayon Peplum Dress in Bold Carnation Print
Brilliantly bold and incredibly flattering, this 1940s darling is made of a fluttering rayon crepe. A post war style with center back zipper, it has short draped sleeves of a piece with the bodice, shirring at each shoulder, and a layered peplum, longer at back. The skirt is longer than the war years, a single panel at front and two gores at the back. The carnations are a mix of white and bold pink while their leaves are emerald. Flirtatious, quintessential and flattering.

This dress is hand laundered, fresh and ready to wear. The previous owner let out the fabric along the zipper to its absolute maximum, using seam binding in place of selvage. Sadly the fabric should really never have been let out, and has frays along what I assume was the original stitch line (and is now the placket). It's been stitched over again by machine and by hand at a few points too. This would all be solved by taking it back in again. Two flowers at the back of the skirt have very subtle staining. Lastly, there is a small hand stitched darn on the left chest. I find no other issues to note.
