RARE 1950s SOPHIE GIMBLE Designer Silk New Look Gown from Saks Fifth Avenue in Navy and White
-
Product Description
This beauty is one of the few 50s pieces in our Spring lookbook this year, and it's truly elegant. Made of a incredibly soft, decadent silk , it looks like a polka dot - but look closer, because those little acorns! The dress nipped to the waist, and has deep pleats that give the skirt fullness - there's plenty of room for a crinoline. The half-length sleeves are trimmed with fine navy mesh, as is the wide neckline. This beauty has an internal grosgrain waistband and closes with a sturdy metal zipper.
Shoulders: 13"

This dress is crisp, fresh and ready to wear. There is a mild yellowing at the underarms. Although the silk itself is entirely sturdy, there are hand stitched repairs to multiple seams, and I have sent it out to have a few more closed up by machine. I suspect the cotton thread is weak, so you might expect to have other seam repairs in the future after wear. The price has been adjusted to about half what I would otherwise price it at. -
