Fantastic 1930s FOGA Two Piece Dress in Brown Rayon Crepe and Net with Soutache
This stunning vintage 1930s dress is a treasure - exquisitely made with exceptional style. It is a mid 30s style, and bears the Fashion Originators Guild label. The dress cannot be worn on its own without the jacket - it has only a net bodice, this is intended to be worn as a two piece set. The jacket features elegant ribbon soutache over both rayon crepe and sturdy net. The dramatic sleeves are fuller at the shoulder, taper to a slim fit, each closing with six self-fabric buttons. Ribbon trim edges the jacket and lower sleeves, and rhinestone buttons close the bodice. The under dress closes with side snaps.
The dress is not faded, it is just a trick of the camera. Any odd light spots are dust in camera as well, apologies.
Shoulder to Shoulder: 14"
Under Bust: 34"
The slip does not entirely cover the chest, so fits a larger size than it appears, but still smaller than the bust of the dress. My recommendation is either to open the side seams of the slip completely to the waist, or add net side gussets for a fuller fit that matches the jacket.
Label: This style registered with the Fashion Originators Guild
Condition: Good with scattered flaws, as is
This dress is clean and ready to wear. There is a repair to the net lining on the left side. The skirt of the dress has a series of a number of little snags or teeny tiny moth chews that look like thin spots when held to the light, this along the lower front. The jacket has a smaller area of the same below the right waist. There are three little spots at the back left hip. The back of each underarm had broken in the past and was been repaired with a matching brown net and are strong enough to wear again. I find no other issues to note.
