  • Product Description

This rare 1930s evening gown is a unique and marvelous bridge between two eras. This dress was originally created, mostly likely, in the early 1910s and has the bones to back it up. The interior of the dress has the clear structure of an earlier garment, the silhouette of the bodice also captures some of the influences of the 1910s. A really brilliant depression era reuse of a very costly gown, this is luminous. The pale peach-pink lamé still gleams through this dress with intensity, catching the light with metallic brilliance. Lamé is also woven generously through the net of the overlay in a diamond pattern, and this net becomes a softly sweeping train. The dress features a scoop neck, attached lamé belt and rhinestone buckle, and wide train. This piece is elegant and eye-catching, and truly rare and lovely one of a kind addition to your collection. This closes in a both both snaps down the side and around the back.

This dress is wearable as is. Because of the presence of the lamé I didn't want to have this dress dry cleaned, but it is remarkably bright as is. The raw ends of the net on the caplet show some splits and fray, not enough detract. The rhinestone buckle at the waist has tarnished with age.. The silk lining inside the cuffs of the sleeves has shattered, but it does not affect the exterior. There are a couple tiny breaks in the netting, nothing significant. I find no other issues to note.
