Fabulous 1940s Bold Colorblock Banded Rainbow Stripe Day Dress in Orange, Purple and Chartruese
This bold 1940s day dress is a delightful reprise of the similar early 40s dress also listed in the shop. An absolutely stunning use of colorblock, this has no tags, but I suspect it is also a Gene Rogers junior - sadly, that area the neck lining was cut away for reason! The body if the piece is a rich orange. The front bodice is a vibrant rainbow stripe of wide color block - purple, grey, more of the orange and bright chartreuse.. Each band has a scallop where the diamond shaped button closes. The skirt has inverted pleats. This beauty closes with a side metal zipper and the glass buttons up the front.
As you notice, we had not one but two of these dress in the summer lookbook! I am convinced that they are the same manufacturer, with the design replayed a few years later in a different material. This is the latter of the two pieces. The most notable differences are that this version has a collar and three-quarter length sleeves and has a longer skirt.

This dress is clean and ready to wear. There is some subtle darkness at each underarm, and the right sleeve has a mild, faint water mark from treating this. There is another light water line at the center of the back. There are spots on the skirt at the upper left front side of the skirt where the orange is brighter, I think a result of an old stain treatment possibly? There is some VERY subtle fade to the lower band of purple on the bodice, the camera picked it up more clearly than it is seen in person. The price has been adjusted with flaws in mind.
