Exceptional Late 1940s Navy Blue Cocktail Dress with Decadent Fringe

  • Product Description

A glorious late 40s dress made for someone who can own a dress that's dramatic, commanding and wonderfully extra. The sleeves have a unique treatment that drapes the fringe under them - this dress will look exceptional for dancing, and that's before you consider the movement of the tiers of the skirt! The neckline is gathered into a sweetheart shape - perfect for dress clips. It closes on the side with a sturdy metal zipper. The weight of this dress is fantastic - there's something so exceptional when a beautiful dress is also heavy. It FEELS amazing.

      Bust: 40"
      Waist: 29"-snug 30"
      Hips: 42"
      Length: 48"

      Label: None Present,
      Material: Wool Crepe, rayon fringe
Condition: Good, as is, very wearable.

This dress is clean and ready to wear. As you can see in the modeled shots especially, there several loops of fringe missing from the top row of fringe at the center front. It was fairly uneven, and I adjusted the remaining fringe to be more even, then attached one at the center, and used it to cover the holes where the fringe is missing (all mannequin shots.) I removed two snaps from the waistline that were probably for the missing belt. Aside from this, there's one other issue, which is two holes at the back left of the skirt, which are thankfully covered by fringe. It has an older iron-on patch, which is not how I'd fix it, but as it's hidden, it doesn't really make sense to re-do it. This striking piece is priced with imperfections in mind.
