This stunning 1950s cocktail dress is piece of rare quality, in a textile that has been often copied throughout the years, but which is seldom made with the exceptional care and fine finish this piece offers. Burgundy and black flowers traverse the deep blue background, which has a weave that creates the illusion that is under net. The dress is sculpted, with an interior that is nearly as beautiful as the exterior. The shoulders are wide-set. The bodice has six darts and a central seam. The bodice meets the fully skirt in something of a sawtooth pattern, but the pieces are more curved, like cathedral windows. This is lined with a heavy muslin for structure, while the bodice is lined in organza. It is a thoughtfully designed, exquisitely made, perfectly balanced piece of designer quality vintage. It closes with a sturdy metal zipper up the back.
