This fantastic 1950s evening gown is drama itself. A bold creation of black velvet, and velvet flocked silver satin, the shape is an extreme of drama. The bodice is absolutely sculpted, with an alluring overstated sweetheart curve tothe neckline, and long princess seams that hug the dress to the body. Fully lined, it holds you like a corset. The skirt is where the dress really takes off, though. The skirt is two pieces - a dramatic, narrowly draped skirt, with shirred gathers for the full curves of hip and buttons, then a hem that is nearly a hobble skirt - you wouldn't be able to move if not for the inch-wide vent at center back. Cover this is a massive, draped waterfall of self-fabric lined in black, that shifts and moves in dramatic contrast to the body conscious fit of the skirt.
