This vintage 1940s day dress is a charmer made in a spring-perfect yellow, a sunshine color I find irresistable. The shoulders are strong, the cuffed sleeves short, and shaped with puffed sleeve headers. Shirring at each shoulder creates striking drape. The bodice is a surplice style, crossing to the center of the waist where it closes with snaps. Two soutache embellished triangular insets made a midwaist, and become self-fabric ties that knot at the center front. The skirt is swishy and draped with front-facing pleats. This slips over the head and closes only with the snaps and tie. It's almost a house dress in construction, but a day dress in style. I LOVE IT.
