Delightful Late 1930s Homemade Chartruese and Navy Blue Rayon day Dress
Vintage late 1930s dress is such a darling two different colorways of the same print. The mix of chartreuse and navy is perfect (although technically, the bodice has faded from being lime green.) The sleeves are puffed with generous gathers and darts. The bodice is ruched down the center front, and has charming navy buttons. The midwaist is pointed, and the skirt is slim at the hips, then flares. It closes with an early metal coil zipper. This dress is as-is, please read all the condition notes.Shoulders: 14"
Best for a size small.
Label: None Present
Condition: Fair plus. Wearable as is with a slip, better to wear with seam repair
This dress is has been cleaned and repaired and could be considered ready to wear, so long as it is paired with a navy slip. This piece is consigned, and needs more repair than was reasonable for me to give it. The most notable issue is seam strain throughout the skirt. This isn't notable with a dark slip underneath, but it would be better for it to be address, by being taken in a small amount along each gore. There is some associated strain/rolled threads around the hips. Also on the skirt is about four small bleached out spots that I touched up with a pen. These clearly happened while it was still in the hands of the original owner, as they then cut out the worst of it and stitched in almost perfectly matching patches of the fabric. Working my way up the dress, the midwaist has a sort of oddly placed dart at either side, to adjust the fit. The underarms have mild staining and strain to the rayon. I've interfaced one fray on the underside of the right sleeve, and one on the back left shoulder. The darts on the sleeves have some strain.
This still looks darling on, and has been gently priced with condition in mind.
