Delicate 1910s Sheer Net and Tiered Lace Summer Gown or Lawn Dress

  • Product Description

This dress is delicate and elegant, made of fine net and four types of lace. Te base of the dress net, fine and sheer. The sleeves and the cape-like pieces over the shoulder are a patterned net lace with sawtooth edge. There's an inset of crocheted lace at the waistband. A wrap of net curls around the hips layering at the front in asymmetric tiers. The lower skirt is more net, delicately embellished into tambor lace. The center of the neckline is pintucked. Knotted lace trims the neckline and the tiers of the skirt. It closes up the back with shell buttons.

There is a 1" repair to a split in the lace on the right sleeve. There are four little holes in the tiered lace on the skirt. At some time in the past, the underarms broke, and a previous owner patched them with similar net. This isn't seen when worn, as the lace cape lays over this area.
