Vintage late 1940s day dress is pretty in a soft, lightweight and breezy cotton - just sheer enough to need a slip. The cherry red is very true, so the white in the print made The neckline is trimmed with ivory pique, and more bands the ruffled hem. Shirring accents the neckline and creates drape. Shirring circles the waist. The skirt is a soft shape, and the sleeves are short - it's truly a summer frock. There is a sturdy metal zipper up the side.

This dress is clean and ready to wear. The underarms have some very minor yellowing, and the pique trim has aged. There is a hand stitched mend below the shirring at the center of the neckline. There is a small hole, almost invisibly mended with fused self-fabric on the interior, a bit lower and to the left of the neckline. The back has scattered teeny pinholes. There is a small pink spot on the pique trim above the hem. I find no other issues to note. The dress wears beautifully, and looks much better than the description makes it sound.
