Late 1930s Ultra Sheer Chiffon Floral Dress in Blue with Yellow, Pink, Purple and Green Flowers
This vintage 1940s wrap dress is wonderfully flirtatious, sheer as can be. It's one of the absolute best larger sized pieces I've found recently, and I'm mad not to hoard it for myself! The ethereally light chiffon is printed in a marvelous dark floral - a lovely rich blue with blooms of yellow, white, saturated lilac, two shades of bright pink and a touch of lime green. The bodice offers has a high v neckline. Decadent shirring at the shoulder and waist creates incredible drape over the bust. The half-length sleeves are heavily shirred, and end above the elbow. Six central darts on the skirt open to pleats. An attached sash of taffeta can cinch the waist at the back. Pair this with matching millinery flowers on a tilt hat, or entwined with your updo. It closes on the side with snaps.
Waist: 39" (meant to be cinched a bit with the sash)
Label: None Present
Material: Silk and Rayon Blend Chiffon
Condition: Good, as is
This garment is clean and ready to wear. The chiffon is wonderfully sturdy. The most notable flaw is that the original shirring on the right sleeve fell out at some point in the past, and a hand stitch has gathered it up, but less perfectly. There is some color bleed at the underarms. There is a bit of yellowing to the white areas of the print at the back of the neck. I find no other issues to note - I have marked this down by nearly $100 due to the shirring concern.
