This vintage 1950s day dress is charming in a sturdy gingham cotton. The color is wonderful - a very purple leaning wine red that has remained saturated and bright over the years. The silhouette is quintessentially early 50s, with a fitted bodice moderately full skirt, featuring a solid color inset that matching the hue of the gingham perfectly - the same crisp cotton trims the cuffs and makes up the collar, which runs to the waist. This dress feels so fresh and new that if I hadn't found it an estate with other 50s frocks, I'd almost guess it was a reproduction. This casual beauty closes with a side metal zipper.

This dress is clean and ready to wear. There is the faintest yellow at the upper back and a bit more at the lining of the next, but it's so fresh and crisp I didn't want to soak it, so this was dry cleaned instead. You have to look closely for this - it is not notable enough to stand out when wearing.
