1940s Evening Gown in Sequined Black Rayon Crepe with Heart-Flower Motif
Vintage 1940s evening gown in a classic black rayon crepe. This dress offers a quintessential early 40s silhouette with padded shoulders, draped waist, and shirred peplum - I realized after it was shot that it was clearly missing original shoulder pads, and have replaced them. At the right shoulder is the start of the motif that defines the bodice - a huge heart-flower "flower" in pink and red gelatin sequins, and clear bugle beads. The leaves and stem are in clear beads with pale silvery-green sequins. The full length skirt has a draped, columnar fit and long center front vent. The peplum, which starts at the top of the hips, rather than the waist, has a soft flutter at back. The dress closes with a sturdy side metal zipper, and a single button at the back of the neck.

Material: Rayon Crepe
Condition: Good plus
This dress is clean and ready to wear. There is a small hole at the far right of the neckline, backed with self-fabric. There is the faintest edge of fade at the top of the shoulders. As noted, I have added shoulder pads since taking photos, but they ARE replacements, so their fabric is not the same as the gown. There's a bit of pressing sheen near the underarm seams. This gown wears beautiful, is solid and lovely.
