Cobalt Blue Late 1930s Cotton Pique Summer Gown with White Macro Floral Print
A summer stunner from the late 1930s, this extra small frock is made all of crisp cotton pique printed with tulips and magnolias.
and before I go further, this dress is actually SO much better than these photos show. Upon doing a serious condition check, I realized that the previously owner had cleverly altered it to wear the sleeves on the shoulders - but this actually has STRAPS with off shoulder sleeves! I’ve restored it now. I’ll add new photos soon if someone doesn’t immediately claim it
The sleeves are puffed. The bodice is ruched. The neckline, trimmed in pleated white ruffless, makes a subtle, modified sweetheart shape. The long skirt is cut on the bias, so it has flowing movement despite the weight of the cotton. It closes up the side with hidden buttons and has self fabric ties.
Label: None Present
Material: Cotton pique
Condition: Very Good minus
This dress is clean and fresh. The pleating at the neckline was resistant to steaming after being washed. There’s one small pin hole in the ruffle trim from letting out the alteration. I find no other issues to note, it’s sturdy and saturated!
