Charming Late 1920s Silk Dress of Crepe de Chine in Brilliant Rusty Orange

  • Product Description

Vintage 1920s dress in a rich, saturated color - a brilliant burnt orange. There's never a season I don't absolutely love this autumnal hue, and the dress is graced with a touch of spring, in the pale pink chiffon collar. The details on this classic 20s piece are striking. Made at the edge of the decade, the waistline is on the natural waist, but it is only fitted with a belt, the cut is still straight between bust and waist. The peplum still harks back to the look of a dropped waist, coming to rest over a more flared skirt skirt. The faux pockets on the peplum were likely once functional, but it seems that was lost when a previous owner replaced the skirt lining components (I would imagine it was original lined with a shattered silk, and it is not lined in cotton.) The sleeves and "pockets" are trimmed in charming two-tone self-fabric buttons using both the rust color and the light pink. This dress slips over the head and has no closures except the attached belt.

This dress is sturdy and ready to wear. There are two little spots on the left sleeve. The interior of the sleeves show that they have been repaired where they meet the dress with a white zig zag stitch, but only the tiniest amount shows on the exterior. There is one TINY snag on the back of the skirt. As noted, the skirt has replaced lining and so the pockets were closed off at that time. I find no other issues to note!
