Vintage late 1930s suit is sporty and versatile. It's excellent worn together, and both pieces wear well separately. Homemade of a soft matte silk with white dots, you'll love this so much more in person. It is *so* soft. The blouse shown is not included, but will be for sale soon! Very much a casual daywear set, the jacket has slim notched collar and no closure. . The back of the jacket has an action back vent detail, a complement to the inset pleats if the skirt. The skirt is a sleek 30s shape with long kickpleat at the center front. It closes with snaps along the left side. Both pieces are unlined
This set wants a slim late 20s/early 30s body type - I couldn't figure out why it looked so awful on my dress form in the shots with arms, and the fact is that the shoulders are narrow, which made it hard to display when the size 6 arms were added. The shots with the blouse are quick styling snapshots to show it more naturally.
Length: 30" + 2 at hem that can be easily let down with a seamripper
Label: None Present
Condition: Good, as is with some repairs
This beautiful set is clean and ready to wear. Someone decided to make this into a costume in the past, and I removed the added detail and interior support. This left a line of stitchmarks in the silk, although you don't really see them unless held to the light. When held to the light, you can also see that most seams at stress points - the sides of the skirt, shoulders, sleeves, kickpleat - have some strain. A few have been repaired by hand, I presume where the strain broke. The hem was machine stitched up at the same time that costume elements were added, and could be let down again. It wears beautifully and is so much better enjoyed fully styled in person, but I've priced it very gently due to flaws and trouble displaying it.
