Charming c. 1939/1940 Day Dress in Colorblock with Puffed Sleeves
Vintage late 1930s/early 40s borderline frock is the quintessential silhouette you crave. The bodice is a rich pumpkin-rust color (slightly over-saturated in the photos), with shirring at the neckline that creates drape down to the divided bust. The skirt, a pinkish beige, is gored, with a peak raising into the bust, tapering to the waist, then flaring to the hem. The sleeves are puffed at the shoulder, but not pleated to the cuff, so they are not as constricting as 1938 sleeves. This darling closes up the side with a sturdy metal zipper.
Label: None Present,likely homemade
Material: Rayon Crepe
Condition: Good plus, as is
This dress has been dry cleaned as well as hand washed, and is read to wear. The sleeves have color movement caused by sweat - there is absolute no lingering odor, but the color moved in a way that creates a shadow effect on each sleeve and side of the bust. This luckily does tend to look like shadow rather than the darkening it is, but I have significantly adjusted the price with this in mind. You can see it best in photo #7. There is a single small spot on the lefthand side of the skirt, about a foot above the hem. I find no other issues to note. Very sturdy and very fresh for wearing.
